The Walter P. Kelly Memorial Scholarship was created in 1997 to remember the extraordinary person that was Walter. We remember Walter as an athlete, a warrior, a brother and most of all a best friend. We hope to keep his spirit and passion for life living through this endeavor.
The Walter P. Kelly Memorial Scholarship is awarded every other year to a scholar athlete from the Staten Island Boys Football League. The recipient of the scholarship is chosen from a group of applicants by the selection committee through an interview process. The award is a partial scholarship that pays for a part of the young man's schooling while he attends Monsignor Farrell High School.
The Walter P. Kelly Memorial Scholarship Fund is a non profit organization that acquires its funding through donations and fundraisers.
The fund also currently sponsors a senior midget team, the W.P.K. Packers at the Staten Island Boys Football League.
